Anonymity, Privacy, and Compliance

NAHCS training is designed to respect privacy, anonymity, and HIPAA compliance.

Agencies are not required to identify clients as being in recovery, and caregivers are never instructed to ask about substance use history.

Disclosure Is Never Required

• Clients are not screened or labeled
• Recovery status is never documented by NAHCS
• Disclosure must always be client-initiated
• Caregivers respond respectfully and within scope

Recovery-aware care creates safety if disclosure happens — without requiring it.

HIPAA & Legal Alignment

NAHCS training:

• collects no protected health information
• adds no documentation requirements
• provides no diagnosis or treatment
• changes no agency compliance procedures

This training is educational only.

Fellowship-Neutral Approach

NAHCS is recovery-centric and fellowship-neutral.

If a client identifies with a particular recovery pathway, caregivers may respectfully use appropriate language, but only at the client’s request.
